Hotel Villa Mahal is quite simply breath-taking, her curved white walls spilling down across a hillside towards the endless expanse of blue Mediterranean... Voted Condé Nast Johansens Most Romantic Hotel in Europe and featured prominently in the Sunday Times Hot 100 Europe's Best Hotels. Now is the 2020 award winner for Conde Nast's Best Luxury Value in Europe & The Mediterranean.
We are very happy to introduce our guests the exclusive experience of exploring Turkish Riviera, enriching your memorable Villa Mahal stay. Taking you beyond Kalkan to sail around the beautiful and unspoilt coastline of the Mediterranean from the luxury deck of our Dufour Grand Large 52 Sail Yacht, combined with Villa Mahal service.
Exploring the Mahal you'll discover her bountiful assets at every turn. The mature gerdens waft a variety of sublime scents across the air from the various plants, including lime, olive and fig trees...
Nearby the enchanting, triangular infinity pool beckons with a tempting glint of sunlight falling on her cool waters, accompanied by plump cushions and grassy areas on which to relax and unwind...
Steps lead down from the rooms, past the swimming pool to the sea. On reaching the water's edge, you'll discover her hidden gem- the Mahal Beach Club. Consisting of platforms built into the hillside, hidden under the welcoming shade of the olive trees. It overlooks the sea, which is freshened by underground springs to leave the water superbly clear with very little salt. Sunbeds are spaciously dotted around, ensuring that guests will always find their own private spot from which to enjoy the sound of the waves.
Guest usually choose to dine at the Beach Club, which by nightfall transforms into a stylish waterfront terrace restaurant, complete with twinkling lights, starched napkins and an endless Milky Way of stars above. Its waterside setting, imaginative lighting and the sound of the sea are the perfect ingredients for a wonderfully romantic evening.
The most serene few days we have ever spent on a holiday. Every detail is considered, from the morning coffee on the terrace to the gentle lanterns flickering over dinner by the sea.
A true hidden gem. The location, the food, the warmth of the staff — everything feels personal and genuine. We will be back for our anniversary next year, without a doubt.
We have stayed in hotels all around the world, and Villa Mahal is genuinely one of the most beautiful. The infinity pool at sunset is a memory we will carry with us for a long time.
The beach club is unlike anywhere else. You walk down through the olive trees and find yourself in the clearest water imaginable. Quiet, elegant, completely unhurried.
A truly exceptional boutique hotel. Small enough to feel personal, thoughtful enough to anticipate what you need before you ask. The sailing excursion was the highlight of our entire Mediterranean trip.
Hotel Villa Mahal has been honoured with multiple Condé Nast Johansens awards. This year, we're hoping for one more — your vote means the world to us.

A quiet promise to the land, the sea, and those who stay with us.
Villa Mahal rests on a hillside that tumbles gently into the Mediterranean — a landscape we did not build, only borrowed. Our commitment to sustainability is woven into the small choices we make each day, from the water that fills the infinity pool to the linens folded in every room. We believe true luxury is leaving a place better than we found it.
Our private bathing platform and Beach Club operate under strict environmental care. We use reef-safe practices, monitor water clarity, and work alongside local marine initiatives to protect the underwater life of Kalkan Bay. No single-use plastics are served at the water's edge — glass carafes, ceramic cups, and reusable materials are our standard.
• Solar thermal systems heat a significant portion of our hot water
• LED lighting throughout the property
• Water-efficient fixtures in all rooms and suites
• Linen and towel reuse program — changed on request, never by default
• Pool filtration optimised to minimise chemical use
Our kitchens favour seasonal, Mediterranean produce sourced from Kalkan, Kaş, and surrounding villages. Olive oil comes from regional groves, fish arrives from nearby fishermen the same morning, and vegetables are selected with local suppliers rather than large-scale distributors. Menus change with the harvest, honouring what the region gives at any given moment.
We operate a structured waste separation programme across the property. Organic kitchen waste is composted where possible, glass and paper are recycled locally, and plastic use has been reduced across all operations. Bathroom amenities are provided in refillable ceramic dispensers instead of single-use bottles.
Villa Mahal is run by a small, long-standing team — many of whom have been with us for over a decade. We employ locally, train our staff on-site, and work with neighbouring businesses rather than large chains. Our sailing excursions, spa treatments, and guided experiences are delivered in partnership with independent craftspeople from the region.
The hotel's whitewashed, organic forms were designed to sit lightly on the hillside rather than dominate it. Native planting — olive, pomegranate, bougainvillea — frames the property, requiring minimal irrigation and supporting local pollinators. We maintain rather than expand, choosing thoughtful preservation over new construction.
Sustainability, for us, is not a certificate on a wall — it is a daily practice. We invite guests to join us in this rhythm: reuse the towel you hung back, walk rather than drive the short stretch into the village, ask about the fish on the menu. These small gestures, multiplied by every stay, become something meaningful.
For questions, collaborations, or further information about our environmental practices, please reach us at [email protected].
